Spanish pub raided
A Spanish pub where toppled mobster Steven Lyons’ brother and a key lieutenant were gunned down last May was one of the properties Spanish police raided in their gang take-down.

Cops released spectacular footage last Thursday following the 45-year-old hoodlum’s arrest in Amsterdam showing heavily-armed officers smashing down doors with battering rams as they dubbed the Lyons gang a “highly sophisticated criminal organisation characterised by violence.”
The Fuengirola pub where owner Ross Monaghan was assassinated along with Steven’s brother Eddie Jnr after last May’s Champions League final was one of the 18 places the Civil Guard targeted. The seafront drinking hole reopened under the new name Irish Rovers after the brutal crime, linked by Spanish police to a turf war between the Lyons gang and the rival Daniel crime clan.

Fugitives hunted by Spanish cops
Spanish authorities revealed today they were still hunting “several” fugitives following their Lyons gang take-down as fascinating new details of the two-year-long operation were released.

Court officials said 24 people they described as being “all foreigners” were under investigation in Spain – but only seven suspects had been arrested there so far and another three abroad who were now facing extradition to Malaga.
They include gang leader Steven Lyons, held in Amsterdam last Wednesday after being deported from Bali, his wife Amanda who was arrested at Dubai Airport and a third man arrested in the UK who has not been named.

Football fan’s pyro ban
A Celtic supporter has been banned from going to matches for the remainder of the season after being caught with a pyrotechnic device last month.

Craig Birrell has been granted bail with a special condition to stay away from all professional regulated football matches including those involving his own team.
The 32-year-old appeared in the dock at Dundee Sheriff Court and admitted having a flare at Tannadice Park on March 22 this year.
Birrell, from Bilston, admitted being in possession of the prohibited device during the match between Dundee United and Celtic.

‘Murder’ trial date set
The trial of four people accused of murdering a man in Greenock and dumping his body near a layby will be heard next year, a judge has confirmed.

Brian O’Neill, 39; Andrew Brodie, 51; Stephen Shields, 44; and Gary McGowan, 36, are accused of attacking 50-year-old Robert Best at an address on Lansbury Street on November 10, 2025.
The four allegedly seized Mr Best and dragged him inside the property, before allegedly stabbing him and striking him on the head and body with knives or similar implements, and inflicting blunt force trauma to his head and body.

Domestic abuse acquittal
The brother-in-law of former First Minister Humza Yousaf has been cleared of domestic abuse charges after a trial at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Ramsay El-Nakla was found not guilty of pushing and punching his partner after a row about what she had been posting on SnapChat.
He was cleared again just months after High Court charges against him were dropped in a case which led to three of his acquaintances being jailed for a total of 26 years.
El-Nakla was found not guilty today after a two-day trial of assaulting his girlfriend at an address in Dundee on November 8, 2025.
