A Spanish theme park that’s a hit with Brits due to its close proximity to many holiday destinations will be expanding, announcing: “More water, more jungle and more thrills” across two completely new areas.
PortAventura World, situated near Barcelona and close to the coastal resorts of Tarragona and Salou, already ranks amongst the biggest theme parks in Europe and boasts six existing themed worlds including Mediterrània, modelled on a Catalan fishing village, and Far West inspired by the American pioneer era.
The park also features six hotels on-site and four additional properties beyond the resort boundaries. Guests can also experience a distinctive Ferrari Land park and an expansive waterpark as part of PortAventura World.

An addition will be made to Caribe Aquatic Park named Coral Bay, La Leyenda Perdida (The Lost Legend), which has been described in a press release as “a new family water area inspired by a sunken ancient pirate bay rising once more from the depths of the sea”. The new area, expected to span over 6,000 m2, will feature an attraction called Cyclone: Europe’s first water coaster and only the second of its kind in the world, reports the Mirror.
There will also be Bahía Pirata, described as a “multi-adventure pool” and The Crab, a multi-slide tower offering five different routes. Meanwhile, younger guests can experience Splash Port, a vibrant and interactive water zone.
A new themed restaurant and rest areas are also planned to be introduced. Meanwhile, Makamanu Jungle, The Adventure Trek is set to be introduced to the Polynesia land at PortAventura Park. According to the park’s press release, this new attraction will “transform the Polynesia area into a new open-air family adventure experience surrounded by tropical greenery.”

The statement continues: “The 135-metre trail will combine elevated paths, rope tunnels, bridges and high-level structures integrated into the existing landscape, reimagining the space as an ancient volcanic quarry hidden deep in the jungle.”
It further explains: “Designed to be enjoyed as a family and to suit different levels of adventure, the experience will feature 18 elevated treehouse-style cabins, 20 rope tunnels, 3 net ladders and 4 slides, as well as a large four-storey central structure with various levels of adventure tailored to different types of visitor.”
These new attractions are expected to welcome visitors by this summer, though no official opening date has yet been announced.
Many UK theme parks are also unveiling fresh rides and themed areas for 2026. Paultons Park has recently launched Viking-themed Valgard: Realm of the Vikings, featuring three new rides alongside immersive experiences.
Meanwhile, at Chessington, the newly opened World of PAW Patrol has already proved a massive hit with fans of the beloved pups. Further details regarding Universal’s forthcoming UK theme park were also disclosed earlier this week, amongst them a brand new logo and the official name: Universal United Kingdom Resort. However, specifics surrounding themed lands and attractions remain firmly under wraps.
