New shooting in Barcelona: a man dies from a gunshot to the head on Balmes Street
BarcelonaThe electricity company Iberdrola commemorated the 125th anniversary of its birth this Friday afternoon in Bilbao. The multinational improved its business forecasts for this year at the end of April, after obtaining a net profit of 1,711 million euros in the first quarter. Although this is 14.6% less than in the same period last year, it points to new business opportunities in electricity grids and artificial intelligence, while it does not foresee “significant” financial impacts from the conflict in the Middle East. The company chaired by Ignacio Sánchez Galán closed 2025 with a record profit of 6,285 million euros, 12% more than the previous year.
In this context, the electricity company organized a concert afternoon this Friday. It brought to the stage the Catalans Rigoberta Bandini and Antonio Orozco, the Colombian Juanes, and the Basque Süne. According to a company statement, the event attracted nearly 40,000 people outdoors. The event will conclude with a show of 1,500 drones around ten in the evening.
The company has organized concerts in Madrid and Valencia, for June 27 and November 28, respectively. In parallel, it has also planned exhibitions and illuminations on emblematic buildings, among other events.
137,000 million euros on the stock market
The multinational company considers the United States and the United Kingdom as the “main growth drivers in the coming years,” according to Sánchez Galán in the presentation of last year’s results. The executive emphasized that the company’s strategy involves “geographic diversification, access to financing and technology, and a successful execution trajectory.”
Regarding dividends, Iberdrola announced that it would advance them at the same pace as record profits and increase them by a further 12%, distributing a total of 4.5 billion euros among shareholders. In this way, it set the remuneration per share at 0.68 euros, based on the 2025 results.
Iberdrola has a stock market value of over 137 billion euros, higher than the 122.466 billion with which it closed last year, when it was one of the five listed companies that surpassed 100 billion euros.
