FT: Cabo Verde stun Uruguay with 2-2 draw(Getty Images)

Cabo Verde scored their first-ever goals at a World Cup, holding Uruguay to a 2-2 draw in Miami.

Cabo Verde took a shock lead when Kevin Pina scored his nation’s first-ever World Cup goal, firing in a long-range free-kick.

Maxi Araujo levelled for Uruguay with a diving header on 44 minutes.

Cabo Verde had a man down injured during the attack.

A Uruguay player was helping a Cabo Verde player with his cramp, but then left him on the ground to join in with the attack.

Uruguay went in front deep in stoppage time when Agustin Canobbio converted from inside the box.

Helio Varela made it 2-2 when he shot into an empty net after a calamitous mix-up in the Uruguayan defence.

Ana Candida Evora was in the crowd to watch her son, Cabo Verde goalkeeper Vozinha.

Vozinha made some stunning saves against Spain, but his mum couldn’t attend because she couldn’t obtain a visa.

Can. You. Believe. It

A calamity from Uruguay.

A terrible back pass falls short.
