Welcome to The Daily Merengue!
THESE ARE YOUR MODS: Ezek XI, Valyrian Steel, KungFuZizou, NeRObutBlanco, Felipejack, and Juninho
This is the least talented generation of footballers we’re seeing world wide. Due to the lack of generational players, teams have adopted what they hope to be a generational system. Generational players are much harder to find and afford financially, than it is to adopt a cheap system. There’s no doubt that system football rules the world. I believe it’s primarily because having a system is more attainable than having a squad of prime, individually talented players. In a system, even the weakest can be given a significant role to play and players can be swapped in/out on an as-needed basis. There really isn’t a stand out player in system football, just stand out moments. And alot of the glory that comes with a successful implementation of system football that wins trophies, goes to the coach these days, more so than the player/s. Only problem is that system football does not have an answer to a Low Block.
A very disciplined low block can make system football useless and drive the most tactically brilliant and advanced coach mad, any day of the week. It can often take a moment of individual brilliance to breakthrough a low block when system football is in play.
BRING BACK INDIVIDUAL BRILLIANCE AGAIN
We need to bring back individual brilliance again in team football. Build entire teams around players again. PSG are the most successful team in football as of today. But does that mean I’m going to agree that Luis Enrique’s style of football is watchable and world football should adopt it??? HELLLL NOOOO!!! I’LL GLADLY PASS!!
System football plus team player mindset has given us some of the overall worst football we’ve ever seen in the last decade. And this is what we call “Modern Football” YUCK!! I’m not saying players should be ultra selfish, no. But I’m sure you saw Vinicius solo run against Japan that almost ended in a goal, right?. That was a moment of pure beauty and brilliance that made you feel alive watching the sport. When that happened, you woke up if you were sleeping from the snooze fest of endless sideways passes and switching of plays that both teams were doing. which just dragged play till there was a last minute winner. I absolutely loathe watching such nonsense. No wonder when the “world class” player on the team touches the ball, the endocrines in your brain don’t get active because they’ve been put to death by the 1001 passes you watched get completed, before the first goal came. There’s alot that the sport has lost, not because of FIFA and their strange regulations, but because a negative style of play has been accepted and adopted world wide.
System football isn’t used because it’s the best, it’s used more because it’s affordable.
GERMANY ARE OUT, SPAIN IS NEXT
Argentina will exit the world cup also. All these teams are frail.
