Best Bet for France vs. Spain
France Moneyline: What a matchup this will be. France has the best attack; Spain has the best defense. It’s an unstoppable force against an immovable object. Even though this will be a close one, I’m taking the French here. They’ve won five of their six games in the World Cup by two goals or more. Over the six games, they’ve outscored their opponents by a combined score of 16-2. The French conceded a goal in two of their three group stage matches but have failed to allow a goal in the knockout rounds.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup continues on Tuesday as France faces Spain in the semi-finals. Below Ciaran Doyle will give his best bet for the match on DraftKings Sportsbook.
France is currently ranked first in the FIFA rankings, while Spain sits at third in the world.
The top four teams in the rankings have made the semi-finals, and these four teams were the four betting favorites entering the tournament. It’s no surprise to see France and Spain facing each other in this huge game. France will be looking to make a third straight World Cup final, while Spain will be looking to get back to their first final since they won the World Cup in 2010.
France has scored 16 times so far in this tournament, second only to Argentina with 17. They have kept three consecutive clean sheets in the knockout rounds. They’ve won every game in regulation, with only one win by a single goal. Kylian Mbappe is tied for the lead in the Golden Boot race with eight goals. Ousmane Dembélé has chipped in with five. Everything is going right for this French team right now, and they look dominant. Can Spain be the side that puts a wrench in their plans?
This will be the toughest test for France in this World Cup, and the same thing will be true the other way around for Spain. The Spaniards have only conceded once in this tournament so far. They are solid defensively and keep hold of the ball well. Spain have been tough to beat recently, as they have not lost a competitive match inside of 90 minutes since March of 2023, when they fell 2-0 to Scotland. Taking aside penalty shootouts, this team is undefeated in over three years. If any team can do it, France can.
I’m expecting them to play France well and cause them some issues, but I think the attacking options for the French will ultimately be the difference here. Alongside arguably the best player in this tournament so far, Kylian Mbappe, they have so much artillery up front. Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué and Michael Olise have all chipped in and are all some of the best at their respective positions in the world. They just have more difference makers up front, people who can make a magic moment out of nothing. That will be the deciding factor in what should be a cagey affair.
Both of these teams are well balanced, but France has the best attack in the world right now and I expect them to get past Spain in the 90 minutes and then go on to win the tournament in the final.
