Commitment to the energy transition
Iberdrola Italia, a subsidiary of the Spanish energy company, has signed an agreement with the Italian retail giant PAM Panorama to supply energy from renewable sources, under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) that both companies signed in 2025, which will run for 10 years.
Thanks to this agreement, PAM Panorama’s retail network — which includes the Pam, Panorama, Pam Local and Pam City brands — will be supplied with renewable energy from Iberdrola Fénix, the photovoltaic plant recently commissioned by the company.
The launch of this energy supply represents one of the most significant projects in Italy’s large-scale retail sector and marks a major step forward in reducing emissions associated with commercial activity.
1,000 GWh
The agreement provides for the supply of 1,000 GWh of certified renewable energy from photovoltaic sources, which will prevent the emission of more than 38,300 tonnes of CO₂ per year – a figure equivalent to the energy consumption of approximately 40,300 households. This milestone reinforces PAM Panorama’s commitment to adopting increasingly efficient and sustainable consumption models.
Valerio Faccenda, Country Manager at Iberdrola Italia, said: “The entry into force of this agreement with PAM Panorama represents a concrete step towards the decarbonisation of the commercial distribution sector in Italy. This PPA demonstrates how renewable energy can be integrated on a large scale into consumption models, generating both environmental and competitive value. At Iberdrola, we are working to drive this change through long-term renewable solutions that help businesses accelerate their decarbonisation processes.”
Commitment to the energy transition
For his part, Alessandro Riolfo, Technical Director at PAM Panorama, emphasised: “By starting to supply renewable energy to our outlets across Italy, we are making our commitment to the energy transition a reality. Our partnership with Iberdrola enables us to integrate sustainable solutions into our day-to-day operations, reducing our environmental impact and contributing to the decarbonisation of the retail sector. This project forms part of a wider plan of sustainability initiatives and reflects our desire to play an active role in the transition towards a low-emission economy and in promoting best practice within the retail sector.”
100 per cent of the renewable energy supplied to PAM Panorama’s outlets under the agreement comes from Iberdrola Fénix, a solar power plant located in the Sicilian municipalities of Belpasso, Centuripe and Paternò, between the provinces of Enna and Catania. Recently inaugurated by Iberdrola, it is currently the largest solar power plant in Italy.
