There’s still over a month left before the transfer window closes but several major deals have already been completed. Morgan Rogers’ move from Aston Villa to Chelsea is the most expensive signing of the summer, so far, with the Blues splurging €138 million to sign the England international. Rogers is now the fifth most expensive signing in history but he could be displaced by the end of the window with Arsenal eyeing a deal for Vinicius Junior and Liverpool interested in Bradley Barcola.
Two other players have moved between English clubs for over €100m already this summer; Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for €135m and Sandro Tonali to Tottenham for €108m. Yan Diomande is poised to become the fourth €100m+ signing this summer with Real Madrid and RB Leipzig locked in talks over a fee. Using Transfermarkt’s unrivalled database, we’ve analysed which clubs have invested fees at €100m or higher and how many times!
Which clubs have bought the most players at €100m or higher?
In total, 11 clubs have purchased players for nine figures or higher with Chelsea ranking first with five signings. Kai Havertz arrived for exactly €100m from Bayer Leverkusen with Romelu Lukaku (€113m), Moisés Caicedo (€116m), Enzo Fernández (€121m) and Rogers the other four players. Real Madrid and Barcelona have both sided three players for fees in excess of €100m with Ousmane Dembélé’s €148m move from PSG the third biggest transfer in history.
As the graphic above illustrates, three clubs have signed two players for more than €100m – Liverpool, Manchester City and PSG. Meanwhile, Arsenal, Atlético, Juventus, Manchester United and Tottenham have all made one signing in excess of €100m. Interestingly, the Bundesliga is the only top five league without a team in the €100m club!
