The Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has announced that it will be revealed on Thursday evening during El perro andaluz.

The Spanish representative for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is set to be revealed tomorrow during El perro andaluz. The show is aired on Thursday evenings, commencing at 23:00 CEST on La 1. As part of its final episode of the series, the show will feature the reveal of the Spanish representative.

RTVE has opted to internally select its singer for the competition, having done so annually since it returned to the competition in 2019. The broadcaster has not held a televised national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest since 2006.

Gonzalo Pinillos represented Spain at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with “Érase Una Vez (Once Upon a Time)”. He placed 5th in the final, scoring 152 points, including 12 points from the Portuguese jury.

Malta will host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 on October 24 with the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre being the venue. This will be the third time that the country has hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, having done so in 2014 and 2016 previously. The competition will combine the UNESCO-recognised Maltese ‘Festa’ heritage into the show, with PBS inviting audiences to “unite with us for a unique celebration where Mediterranean tradition and the future of music unite under one sky. It’s music, it’s joy, it’s a festa …. it is the Junior Eurovision Song Contest!”

Spain in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest+

Spain first took part in the contest in 2003 and participated every year between then and 2006. In 2004, María Isabel brought Spain their only victory so far with “Antes muerta que sencilla”. After an absence of 13 years, Spain returned to the contest in 2019 with “Marte” by Melani García. Spain had always finished in the top 5 until the 2021 contest, when Levi Díaz finished in 15th place. The 2024 contest was hosted in Madrid, the first Eurovision contest to take place in Spain since Eurovision 1969.
