Concluding a successful edition of the 2023 Bienal de Arquitectura Latinoamericana in the city of Pamplona, extension activities will be held in Seville, Granada, Barcelona, and Madrid from October 2 to 6.
From September 26 to 29, the Bienal’s main program, which featured Ecuador as the guest country, took place at the Palacio del Condestable and the University of Navarra School of Architecture. The 14 teams selected for BAL 2023 were BHY, GSARQS+, Manuel González Veglia, GOAA, Tomás de Iruarrizaga, Lezaeta Lavanchy, Rama Estudio, Emilio López, Escobedo Soliz, 3ME arquitectura, TO, LANZA Atelier, Oficina X, and MASA Arquitectos. Over the four days of the Bienal, the program featured their presentations alongside other lectures and dialogues by various figures in Ecuadorian architecture, such as Manuel Ramos, Espinoza Carvajal Arquitectos, Diez + Muller, Surreal estudio, MCM + A Taller de Arquitectura, and Durán & Hermida, among others. The closing lecture was delivered by Rafael Vélez Calisto, one of the leading figures in Quito’s architecture.
