It’s been a few weeks since Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph and some players are still in disbelief.
Forward Ferran Torres joined the “TODAY” show Monday to discuss the game, returning to the U.S. for four days as he remains on break from Barcelona.
Torres scored the final’s game-winning goal in extra time as Spain took down Lionel Messi and reigning champions Argentina 1-0.
The 26-year-old striker admitted he’s watched highlights of his goal countless times, but for one reason.
“Honestly? A thousand times,” Torres said. “Because when I finished the game, I don’t remember the goal. I just have the feeling that I got crazy…I don’t remember how I scored.
“I can’t describe with words. You just have to live the moment and, yeah, it was unbelievable.”
In an interview with NBC News, Torres explained that the goal was the best moment of his life, but not just because of the goal.
“I talked with my friends, and for me, it was a more exciting moment when I saw my teammates coming running, for two minutes, than even when I scored a goal,” Torres said.

The Barcelona forward is also in the middle of transfer rumors with the window still open for another month.
Top French club Paris Saint-Germain has been linked to him after Goncalo Ramos departed for Italian side AC Milan in a lucrative deal. Torres addressed the situation.
“I have a contract at Barcelona, but in football you never know,” he started. “I’m just waiting to make the right decision.”
On whether Torres has a dream club, he provided a simple yet effective answer: “Just be happy.”
