Real Madrid and silly season continue their merry dance. This telenovela seldom fails to deliver riveting drama this time of the year. The narratives abound with joyous elation over new signings countered effectively by frustrations over stalled negotiations and desired departures not coming to fruition. This story will live on long in the memory throughout the season with domino effects expected from incoming players as well as the departures. It’s the same old summer for Real Madrid. A little different this time, some might say.. yet, mostly the same.
Franco had a lot of hype surrounding his big money move to the Bernabeu but found it tough under both Xabi Alonso and Arbeloa and injury didn’t help his cause with the ascendency of Thiago Pitarch and Arda Guler pushing the young Argentine further into the periphery.
La Fabrica.. to the World
La Fabrica keeps making waves across Europe. It’s still very difficult for young players from the academy to get into the first team but now the reputation of the academy is giving youngsters opportunities abroad. Cestero is one of those talents who can grow into a model professional of the highest order. He’s already got game intelligence and has made appearances for the first team.
Arguably the brightest light from La Fabrica last season. Thiago Pitarch played some of the biggest games last season. The youngster made some mistakes but the talent is undeniable. He works very hard and has to confidence to execute high quality plays. The players Mourinho has brought in and with the impending arrival of Rodri, Thiago will likely not have nearly as much time to shine as he did last season. He is one of the players we ought to keep, however, that seems rather untenable.
Fabrizio is insistent that Diomande will become a Real Madrid player despite reports to the contrary from Leipzig and other journalists.
