Safi – Paris Saint-Germain signed Spain forward Ferran Torres from Barcelona on Saturday, adding a World Cup winner to their attack in place of the departed Gonçalo Ramos.

Torres signed a contract until 2031 and will wear the number 9 shirt, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) announced. Neither club disclosed a fee, though Goal reported a figure of around €50 million (MAD 560 million).

The forward said the chance to win a first Champions League drove his decision. “It’s a winning project, built around very young players, so it’s set up for years to come,” Torres said in his first interview as a PSG player. “I’ve never won one, and I believe this is the right club to do it.”

Torres arrived days after scoring the winner in Spain’s World Cup final, a moment he called “probably one of the happiest days of my life.” He struck a measured note on the move, adding: “This is a winning team, so I have to live up to that standard.”

A reunion with Luis Enrique

The signing is PSG’s fourth of the summer and reunites Torres with Luis Enrique, who coached him with Spain between 2019 and 2022.

Sporting advisor Luis Campos had made the striker a priority after Gonçalo Ramos left for AC Milan in a reported €70 million deal, with Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi among the other names considered.

Torres described the coach as “a father figure” in football. “When I trained with him on the national team, he always showed great faith in me,” he recalled.

Luis Enrique welcomed the versatility, telling reporters his new forward “adapts perfectly, because he can play anywhere.”

Torres joined Barcelona from Manchester City in January 2022 and scored 65 goals in 207 games, including 21 goals and three assists in 49 appearances last season.

The 65-cap international scored the winner in Spain’s 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final.

A right winger by trade, the Valencia native has grown into a forward comfortable across the front line, an option PSG see as distinct from Ramos.

The transfer is unlikely to be PSG’s last piece of summer business, with a move for Ajax winger Mika Godts reported to be close.
