Iberdrola, through its subsidiary Neoenergia, has won seven awards out of the eleven nominations it had for the awards from the Brazilian Association of Electric Energy Distributors (Abradee), which strengthens its role as one of the major players in the electric sector in Brazil.

In this edition, Neoenergia Cosern was designated for the second consecutive year as the best distributor in the country, while Neoenergia Elektro ranked second, as explained by the company.

Likewise, the group’s firms exclusively captured the nominations in the categories of Management Quality and Innovation Management, in both cases with victory for Neoenergia Elektro.

The awards also highlighted the territorial leadership of Neoenergia’s distributors. Neoenergia Cosern was recognized as the best distributor in the Northeast, Neoenergia Elektro received the award for the Southeast, and Neoenergia Brasília was distinguished as the best in the North-Central West region. Additionally, Neoenergia Cosern took first place in the Economic-Financial Management category.

The Abradee recognitions annually distinguish the most outstanding companies for their performance in areas such as service quality, innovation, management, and customer service, among others, and are considered the most prestigious awards in the sector in Brazil.

Neoenergia matches this year the results obtained in the last edition of the Abradee Awards, when it also won seven awards and an honorable mention.

In 2025, Neoenergia Cosern was recognized as the best distributor in Brazil and as the best in the Northeast, consolidating its reference position in the sector. Additionally, it received an honorable mention in Health and Safety.

For its part, Neoenergia Brasília achieved first place in the Performance Evolution category. Neoenergia Elektro was distinguished as the best distributor in the Southeast and won awards for Management Quality, Innovation Management, and Operational Management.

Brazil, a key piece in Iberdrola’s strategy

These awards coincide with a phase of strong investment acceleration by Iberdrola in Brazil, considered a key market for the electric company chaired by Ignacio Sánchez Galán.

Through Neoenergia, the group has communicated an investment plan of 50 billion reais between 2026 and 2030, about 9 billion euros, aimed at expanding, modernizing, and digitalizing the electrical networks in the concession areas where its five distributors operate: Neoenergia Coelba (Bahia), Neoenergia Pernambuco, Neoenergia Elektro (São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul), Neoenergia Cosern (Rio Grande do Norte) and Neoenergia Brasília (Federal District).

According to the Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Base Industries (Abdib), Neoenergia is the private company that has allocated the most resources to infrastructure in Brazil in the last four years. Only in 2025 did it channel 10.1 billion reais (about 1.7 billion euros) to new investments, focused mainly on the distribution business.

Neoenergia operates in 18 states and in the Federal District, with activities that encompass the generation, transportation, distribution, and marketing of electricity. Its five distributors serve about 17 million customers, which is equivalent to a population of nearly 40 million people. The company has 4,200 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity and manages more than 8,000 kilometers of transmission lines.
