Van Oevelen in Valencia to Complete Loan Switch

Town keeper Kayne van Oevelen has arrived in Valencia ahead of completing his season-long loan switch to the La Liga side.
Van Oevelen had initially been expected in Valencia on Wednesday but Spanish reports indicated the Blues had delayed the move until Monday due to injury issues with another of their keepers, although manager Gary O’Neil dismissed the claim at his Friday press conference.
The Dutchman, who joined Town for £3.4 million earlier in the summer, signing a five-year deal, arrived at Manises airport this morning ahead of a medical.
“I’m very happy to be here,” he told as.com. “Valencia is a great club. I have spoken to [head coach Carlos] Corberán and he has conveyed confidence to me. I hope to help the team.”
Valencia were keen on recruiting Van Oevelen on a permanent basis prior to his move to Town last month but, despite having agreed personal terms, had been unable to settle on a fee with the Eredivisie side.
The Blues had been looking to send him out on loan for the season to a Championship club.
But that plan was put on hold when Christian Walton suffered a foot injury in training, however, the former Brighton man has returned to fitness and was on the bench for yesterday’s season-opener against Sunderland.
