Harvey Elliott is set to complete a season-long loan move from Liverpool to Valencia.
The Athletic reported earlier on Monday that the clubs were in talks over a temporary switch for the 23-year-old attacking midfielder and now an agreement has been reached.
The deal is for a straight loan with no option for the La Liga side to buy Elliott, whose current contract at Anfield runs until the summer of 2028.
The former England Under-21 international, who is heading to Spain to undergo a medical, is hoping a season at Valencia will help revive his career after a frustrating 12 months. A conversation with head coach Carlos Corberan last week proved key to Elliott’s decision with Valencia increasing their offer over the weekend regarding how much of his salary they were prepared to cover.
Elliott spent last season on loan at Aston Villa but made just nine appearances in all competitions, of which only three were from the start. He found himself frozen out by Villa manager Unai Emery as the Midlands club didn’t want to trigger an obligation to buy him for £35million.
Elliott returned to Liverpool in July as he eyed a fresh start under new head coach Andoni Iraola. However, he was unable to force his way into Iraola’s plans and was left out of the matchday squads for their opening two Premier League games against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.
Asked about Elliott’s future last week, Iraola told reporters: “With Harvey, I can only choose 20. It’s about finding the right balance on the bench. In Harvey’s case, he’s trying and improving every week but still I prefer other options.”

Meanwhile, fellow Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has returned to his boyhood club Celta Vigo in a permanent deal expected to be worth in the region of around £1m. Liverpool have also negotiated a sell-on clause.
The 21-year-old former Spain youth international has been beset by injury problems in recent years and was inside the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield.
Bajcetic made the last of his 22 senior appearances for Liverpool in May 2024. Since then he’s had loan spells at RB Salzburg and Las Palmas.
Liverpool youngster Keyrol Figueroa is set to go out on loan prior to Tuesday’s deadline with two offers on the table.
There has also been plenty of interest in Luke Chambers, Jayden Danns, Lewis Koumas and James McConnell. However, Koumas and McConnell appear certain to stay after impressing Iraola. Chambers and Danns are also likely to remain at Liverpool but a final decision will be taken on Tuesday.
