MADRID — Martin H. Rutherford, age 67, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Rochester Regional Hospital, Potsdam.
Friends and family may be received on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm at Phillips Memorial Home located at 20 Church Street in Madrid, New York.
Burial to follow in Madrid Cemetery.
Martin was born on April 22, 1959, to Harold and Thea (Partch) Rutherford.
He graduated from Madrid-Waddington High School in 1977.
In his earlier years Martin delivered newspapers. He loved spending time with his family at the holidays, listening to music and to go camping. He enjoyed spending time at McDonalds with his friends and family.
He is survived by his sisters; Victoria and husband Bruce Durant of West Potsdam; Laurie Lucas of Madrid and Juliette Rutherford and Valerie McEwen of Russell, NY; along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A luncheon at the United Church of Madrid will be held after the burial in Madrid Cemetery.
