Barça travel to Mestalla on matchday four of the Liga season. Hansi Flick’s side will be looking to maintain their perfect start this Sunday at 4.15pm CEST. Here are some of the key facts and figures ahead of this historic fixture.
Raphinha at his best
Barça have made an impressive start in front of goal this season, scoring 10 times in their opening three games, with Raphinha responsible for five of them. If the Brazilian scores against Valencia, he will equal Kubala, Ré and Cesc, who all found the net in each of the first four league games of a season. Ibrahimovic and César are the only Barça players to have done so in five consecutive matches.
Last dance at Mestalla
Barça will visit Mestalla for the final time this Sunday. If everything goes according to schedule, Valencia are set to move to the Nou Mestalla for the 2027/28 season.
Opened in 1923, Mestalla is therefore approaching the end of more than a century of history. Barça have played 115 games there, winning 43, drawing 30 and losing 42.
Hansi Flick’s debut
Hansi Flick made his competitive debut as Barça coach at Mestalla. On 17 August 2024, his side came from behind to win 2-1 thanks to two Robert Lewandowski goals after Hugo Duro had put Valencia ahead. It earned Barça their first three points of a 2024/25 Liga campaign that ultimately ended with the title.

With 20 goals in five games, Valencia are the side against whom Flick’s Barça have the highest scoring average, at four goals per game. Across those five meetings (four in La Liga and one in the Copa del Rey) Barça have recorded four wins and one defeat: victories by 2-1, 7-1, 5-0 and 6-0, with the other game ending in a 3-1 defeat.
Valencia are not, however, the team against whom Flick’s Barça have scored the most goals overall. That distinction belongs to Real Madrid, against whom they have scored 22, but across seven matches, two more than against Valencia. Barça therefore average 4 goals per game against Valencia, compared to 3.14 against Madrid.
