A successful start for the Explora Journeys Swiss SailGP Team at the Spain Sail Grand Prix in Valencia. The crew led by helmsman Sébastien Schneiter earned six points on the first day of racing and finished fourth in their group.

At the top of the standings, the Australian Bonds Flying Roos SailGP Team, led by Tom Slingsby, took the lead with 11 points. Red Bull Italy, led by Phil Robertson, trails by one point, while Emirates GBR sits in third place with seven points. The Swiss team is right behind them.
For Schneiter & Co., their performance in Spain is also important in terms of the overall standings. Going into the weekend, the Swiss team was in ninth place in the championship with 25 points. Australia led the standings with 66 points, ahead of the Spanish team led by Diego Botín, which had 54 points.
Spaniards Impress in Front of Their Home Crowd
Meanwhile, in Group B, the home team brought joy to the crowd. Los Gallos, led by Diego Botín, earned 14 points and took the lead ahead of ROCKWOOL Racing with 12 points and the US SailGP Team with 10 points. The Spanish team had already traveled to Valencia brimming with confidence: Earlier this season, they had won the events in Halifax and Portsmouth.

Valencia Kicks Off a Crucial Phase of the Season
Valencia is the tenth stop of the season and will make its debut on the calendar in 2026. On September 5 and 6, the modern marina will serve as the backdrop for the first SailGP race weekend in the Spanish coastal city.
The Spanish team is drawing particular attention: Los Gallos are heading into their home race as one of the strongest challengers to the leading Australians. Even before Sassnitz, they were in second place in the championship following victories in Halifax and Portsmouth.
The coming weeks will be special for the Swiss team as well. Just two weeks after Valencia, the SailGP in Geneva is scheduled for September 19 and 20. By then at the latest, Schneiter and his crew want to be right up there competing for the top spots in front of their home crowd.
