FC Barcelona will have the opportunity to be the only team in La Liga to win their first four games of the season when they take on Valencia at the Estadio de Mestalla today.

Barcelona is top of the league table after three matches played, and they are on 9 points after three wins. Valencia is 18th with one point after one draw and two defeats.

Valencia played two of their first three games at home, and today will be their third home game of the season. Valencia lost their last two matches, and last weekend, they lost 3-1 to Deportivo A Coruña.

Barcelona hosted Rayo Vallecano at home last Monday, and the La Liga champions won 5-2 with braces from Lamine Yamal and Raphinha; the other goal came from an own goal by Florian Lejeune.

Ahead of the Valencia game, reports suggested that Lamine Yamal missed a team training session as he trained individually. The winger took a knock, according to Barcelona manager Hansi Flick.

Flick said, “Lamine Yamal took a knock and was in pain. It was better for him to train separately. After training, he said everything was fine. He will travel with us, and we’ll see tomorrow.”

Yamal was included in the squad and will start. Rodri will also start his first game as a Barcelona player. Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus is included in the squad for the first time since joining Barcelona this summer and could make his debut against Valencia.

Valencia are without 8 first-team players: Guido Rodríguez, Sadiq Umar, Justin De Haas y José Copete, Diego López, Sergi Canós, Luis Rioja, and Dimitri Foulquier.

However, Valencia will have their new signing Harvey Elliott available. The English midfielder joined Valencia on loan from Liverpool near deadline day.
