Meknes – Eric Garcia will wear a protective face mask in the upcoming match against Levante after suffering a broken nose following an accidental collision with teammate Rodri in Sunday’s match against Valencia.
Despite the injury, the Catalan player was back at the training facility this morning, completing the entire session without any issues.
According to Marca, the 25-year-old player took to the field fitted with a protective face mask, a required piece of gear he will have to wear for his upcoming appearances.
Garcia’s appearance against Valencia came to an early end when he was forced off less than thirty minutes into the match following an accidental clash with teammate Rodri.
Playing as a temporary right-back, Garcia took a hard hit to the face, with medical tests later confirming a broken nose.
While Garcia will sit out Wednesday’s Champions League fixture against Feyenoord due to suspension, he is set to return for Sunday’s league clash with Levante.
The defender has been cleared to play in that match, though he will be sporting a protective face mask to safeguard his injured nose.
Playing with a face mask will not be a new experience for the versatile player, who has previously had to wear protective equipment on the pitch.
Last November, the Barcelona defender suffered a similar nasal injury during a Champions League match against Club Brugge, after clashing heads with Vermant in an aerial duel.
That fracture kept him in a mask for several weeks, though he adjusted to playing with the extra gear with minimal trouble.
Barcelona delivered a dominant performance at Mestalla, securing a 5-0 win over Valencia to collect all three points and claim top spot in La Liga.
