Modern Architectures in 20th-Century Spain is a course dedicated to exploring the legacy, transformations, and ongoing relevance of Spanish modern architecture. Through three sessions held at the Casa de la Arquitectura in Barcelona, leading experts will examine the key contributions of this movement and its development across different regions of Spain.
The programme offers a contemporary perspective on an architectural culture that, during the first half of the twentieth century, embraced the ideals of progress, introduced new functions and ways of living, and incorporated materials derived from industrial production, shaping a new architectural language that continues to inspire research and debate today.
Organised by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe and the Fundación Docomomo Ibérico, with the participation of the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the University of Seville, the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the University of A Coruña, the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the University of Valladolid, and with the collaboration of COAC and ETSAB-UPC.
