After her vacation in Mallorca, Crown Princess Leonor of Spain is heading back to class and nailing her first back-to-school look in a pair of classic sneakers.
After completing her military training over the past three years, September 7 marked Leonor’s first day of school at Madrid’s Carlos III University, where she’ll study Political Science over the next four years, and she made sure to strut onto campus with style.
The young royal was photographed making an entrance on her first day of school in a casual but cool outfit suited to Madrid’s current heatwave. As a base, she chose an elevated take on the classic jeans-and-tee formula. Instead of a classic T-shirt or tank top, Leonor chose a sleeveless button-up shirt with a lapel collar and V-neckline as a smarter alternative. She paired the flowy top with dark-wash loose straight-leg jeans with a rolled-up hem for added contrast, which perfectly matched the colorway of her sneakers.

For the occasion, Leonor opted for a pair of the viral (and classic) Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 low-profile sneakers. Instead of the signature yellow-and-black colorway, she chose ‘Birch/Peacoat,’ which features a cream-white base with soft gray suede detailing and contrasting blue stripes and accents. (Fun fact: Jennifer Lopez’s kid, Oskar Jacob Muñiz, has the same style in the same colorway.)

As she usually does with her outfits, Leonor also made sure to include made-in-Spain pieces, opting for a bag from independent brand MAS1. In particular, she rocked the Andy design in black, a large shopper bag made from 100% LWG-certified cowhide leather featuring silver hardware and multiple shoulder straps that the brand itself describes as perfect for “work, college, or a weekend getaway.” The bag retails for just 169€ in Spain, but shipping it to the US will run you $325.
