‘It’s wonderful that you say without Venus, there wouldn’t have been a Serena,’ Princess Leonor said during her address. She added that sisters are ‘our great allies and travel companions,’ before sweetly smiling at Infanta Sofia, who beamed back.

Infanta Sofia has been well-prepared for her next chapter. In the Summer of 2025, she graduated from UWC Atlantic – the so-called ‘Hippy Hogwarts’, which is also the alma mater of her older sister, the Princess of Asturias, as well as King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia joined Sofia in Wales for her graduation ceremony that May, looking hugely proud of their daughter as her tutor described her as a ‘naturally empathetic and affectionate listener’. She continued, describing the young royal’s journey as ‘marked by perseverance and remarkable personal growth’ and called her ‘a true friend in difficult times’ who would be ‘greatly missed’.

But Atlantic College’s loss was the Spanish royal family’s gain. In the years following her graduation, Infanta Sofia has gone from strength to strength, showing maturity beyond her years when she supported Queen Sofia following the death of her sister, Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark.
