The summer transfer window has officially opened and now that the World Cup has come and gone, clubs are working away on major deals. For most clubs, planning will already be complete and they will have identified which players they want to sign, and which players they want to sell.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals this summer. The rumour mill is still gathering pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories – you can access the full rumour mill below.
Today’s biggest transfer stories
Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Barcelona for Alejandro Balde. According to reports in Spain, United want to sign the 22-year-old for around €40 million and Barca could decide to cash in on the Spanish international to help fund moves for priority targets.
Christopher Nkunku wants to return to RB Leipzig, despite tentative interest from Newcastle United. The 28-year-old has struggled badly since leaving the Bundesliga club for Chelsea and he’s failed to reignite his career at AC Milan.
Aston Villa have made contact with Club Brugge over Joel Ordóñez. Unai Emery’s squad has been decimated this summer as they transition from experienced stars to younger talents and Ordonez is viewed as a replacement as Ezri Konsa’s replacement.
