The number of African Swine Fever (ASF)<\/a> outbreaks in wild boar across Catalonia, Spain, has risen by 16, bringing the total to 284 cases. One of these new outbreaks was detected in Castellbisbal, a municipality that had not previously reported any cases of the disease.<\/p>\n

According to data provided to the World Organisation for Animal Health<\/a> (WOAH), the case in Castellbisbal is several kilometres away from any other cases. Cases have been found now in an area with a radius of about 8 km. Although this latest case remains within the inner restricted area (Zone II), its discovery will necessitate redrawing the boundaries of Zone II in the coming days.<\/p>\n

12 municipalities infected with ASF<\/p>\n

The disease has now been confirmed in a total of 12 municipalities: Cerdanyola del Vall\u00e8s, Sant Cugat del Vall\u00e8s, Sant Quirze del Vall\u00e8s, Terrassa, Rub\u00ed, Molins de Rei, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Sant Just Desvern, Barcelona, Sabadell, El Papiol and Castellbisbal.<\/p>\n

In its weekly overview, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food<\/a> (MAPA) noted that a total of 3,746 other animals have been analysed and all have tested negative for African Swine Fever.<\/p>\n
