CARACAS, April 27 (Reuters) – Spain’s Repsol and Italy’s Eni are seeking to increase \u200cproduction at Venezuela’s Cardon IV gas field \u200cto 645 million cubic feet per day, the manager of \u200bthe project told an oil conference in Caracas on Monday.<\/p>\n
The field currently produces about 580 million cubic feet per day, manager Gonzalo Antonio Carrillo told the \u200cVenezuela Energetica conference. \u2060He did not say when the companies hope to reach their new goal.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re \u2060going to move forward step-by-step. The first step will be to ramp up slightly to 645 (million cubic \u200bfeet per \u200bday),” Carrillo said, adding \u200bthe companies’ next step \u200cwould be to drill more and improve infrastructure at the field.<\/p>\n
In her own presentation, Venezuela’s vice minister for gas Cindy Rondon said the country needed to speed up repairs to gas infrastructure.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have to \u200cspeed up the recovery of \u200binfrastructure. We need to carry \u200bout projects to \u200boptimize the handling of associated gas,” \u200cshe said. “These are solutions that \u200bneed to \u200bbe delivered in the short and medium term.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, an official from state oil company PDVSA said \u200bregulations tied \u200cto a sweeping oil reform law were still \u200bbeing worked on.<\/p>\n
