The portfolio includes 1.37GW from combined-cycle and cogeneration facilities and 1.23GW from wind and solar installations. The agreement also covers commercial activities and a development pipeline of power generation projects, which Cox plans to pursue as part of its expansion strategy in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Cox finalized the acquisition of Iberdrola Mexico under the conditions set out in July 2025. The assets contribute over 12GW of generation projects in development and employ more than 800 personnel, whom Cox will keep on. Cox obtained financing and advisory services from global banking and investment institutions and was guided by several international law firms.<\/p>\n<p>The deal represents a major milestone in Cox&#8217;s declared aim to broaden its integrated utility operations in priority Latin American markets, positioning Mexico as a central hub for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indexbox.io\/store\/mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">further regional growth<\/a>. Cox executive chairman Enrique Riquelme Vives said the transaction fits within the vision of President Claudia Sheinbaum and her administration to establish energy and water as genuine state policies fostering inclusive and sustainable development for all Mexicans. He noted that Cox, through an integrated platform combining efficient power generation and advanced water management, fully supports the Mexican government&#8217;s objectives of strengthening energy security, water sovereignty, and long-term investment in strategic infrastructure under a transparent and equitable regulatory framework with national planning that attracts international capital.<\/p>\n<p>For Iberdrola, this sale aligns with its continuing strategy to concentrate investment on regulated transmission and distribution operations and long-term contracted generation, mainly in its core markets of the United States and the United Kingdom. The move corresponds with Iberdrola&#8217;s 2025-2028 strategic plan, which dedicates EUR58bn to expanding electricity networks, with a focus on the UK and US.
