{"id":13293,"date":"2026-04-28T13:42:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T13:42:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/13293\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T13:42:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T13:42:07","slug":"barcelona-eye-another-world-cup-winner-as-backup-for-julian-alvarez-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/13293\/","title":{"rendered":"Barcelona eye another World Cup winner as backup for Julian Alvarez &#8211; report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is well-established at this point that FC Barcelona are intent on signing a new striker in the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n<p>Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid, in that regard, has emerged as the priority target for the Blaugrana, with the Argentine being seen as the ideal candidate to spearhead the attack.<\/p>\n<p>However, several complications are expected in the deal for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner, which is why Bar\u00e7a are putting contingency plans in place.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/just-in-barcelona-eye-e75m-rated-chelsea-forward-as-plan-b-if-julian-alvarez-move-fails\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Joao Pedro of Chelsea, to that end, is seen as a possible alternative<\/a>, and now another name has emerged.<\/p>\n<p>Barcelona like Lautaro Martinez<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Nilsola10\/status\/2049086390638346718\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Cadena SER<\/a>, Barcelona like Inter Milan and Argentina striker Lautaro Martinez and see him as a possible backup option if Alvarez does not arrive.<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old striker is someone that Bar\u00e7a have admired for a long time, and <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/barcelona-missed-out-on-the-chance-to-sign-inter-milan-talisman-twice-in-the-past\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">even came close to signing a while back<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"692\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/fc-internazionale-v-as-roma-serie-a-1-2-1024x692.jpg\" alt=\"Lautaro Martinez of FC Internazionale\" class=\"wp-image-198232\"  \/>On Barcelona\u2019s radar.
