Spain\u2019s Repsol and Italy\u2019s Eni are advancing plans to raise
\nnatural gas production at Venezuela\u2019s Cardon IV field to 18.27mn
\ncubic metres per day from about 580mn, as part of a broader push to
\nexpand the country\u2019s energy output, Reuters reported.<\/p>\n
\nProject manager Gonzalo Antonio Carrillo said the increase will
\nbe implemented progressively, noting, \u201cWe\u2019re going to move forward
\nstep-by-step,\u201d with an initial ramp-up followed by further drilling
\nand infrastructure enhancements. He did not provide a timeline for
\nreaching the target.<\/p>\n
\nOfficials have underscored that achieving higher output will
\nrequire accelerating repairs to Venezuela\u2019s gas infrastructure and
\nimproving the management of associated gas, with measures needed in
\nthe short and medium term.<\/p>\n
\nSeparately, state oil company PDVSA is seeking to boost crude
\nexports to 1.06mn barrels per day (bpd) and fuel shipments to
\n134,000 bpd by the end of the year, while maintaining a longer-term
\nambition of reaching 3mn bpd.<\/p>\n
\nExports have already shown signs of recovery, exceeding 1mn bpd
\nin March for the first time since September, driven by shipments to
\nIndia and flows to the Caribbean for storage.<\/p>\n
\nRegulations linked to a broader reform of the oil sector are
\nstill being finalised, indicating that policy adjustments remain
\nongoing as Venezuela works to expand both gas and crude
\nproduction.<\/p>\n
