The Spanish broadcaster RTVE has responded to comments from the European Broadcasting Union about its hope for Spain to return to the Eurovision Song Contest.<\/p>\n
Sergio Calderon, Director of TVE, has commented on the European Broadcasting Union\u2019s comments about hoping that Spain will return to the Eurovision Song Contest. Speaking to verTele!, the Director of TVE stated:<\/p>\n
\u201cWe understand the concern of the EBU and the contest director, Martin Green, regarding the absence of Spain and other countries from this year\u2019s Eurovision Song Contest. From May 17th onwards, we will see if the conditions are right for future participation\u201d<\/p>\n
In an interview this past weekend, Martin Green, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, commented, \u201cWe miss those countries and we want them back\u00a0. We will do everything in our power to make that happen\u201d in an interview with the Dutch broadcaster NOS as part of its show Nieuwsuur. <\/p>\n
The Spanish broadcaster is one of five broadcasters across Europe that have withdrawn from competing in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, following Israel\u2019s inclusion in this year\u2019s contest. in December, RTVE outlined in detail<\/a> its reasons for not competing in the 70th edition of the competition. <\/p>\n
