{"id":18041,"date":"2026-05-06T15:29:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T15:29:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/18041\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T15:29:20","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T15:29:20","slug":"spain-flight-update-iberia-and-vueling-rule-out-cancelling-flights-this-summer-and-applying-surcharges-to-ticket-prices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/18041\/","title":{"rendered":"Spain flight update: Iberia and Vueling rule out cancelling flights this summer and applying surcharges to ticket prices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some encouraging news if you flying domestic in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Spain.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spain<\/a> this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Summer.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">summer<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Iberia.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Iberia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Vueling.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vueling<\/a> have stated that they are proceeding as normal with their operational planning for this summer, as they do not anticipate any disruptions to fuel supplies, whilst also clarifying that they have ruled out applying \u201cadditional charges\u201d to their ticket prices.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Customers who have booked with Iberia or who plan to do so can rest assured that the company\u2019s plans do not include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Cancellations.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cancellations<\/a> this summer due to the rise in jet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Fuel+prices.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fuel prices<\/a>,\u2019 the airline stated in a press release. Iberia has also emphasised that it has taken \u2018rigorous\u2019 cost-saving measures to cushion the impact on ticket prices.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of Vueling, it highlighted that it has \u2018an extensive flight schedule to over 100 destinations, with multiple timetable options on each route\u2019, enabling it to offer alternatives to its customers in the event of any unlikely adjustment or disruption to their flight plan, and they may request a refund if no option suits their needs.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding ticket surcharges, this decision contrasts with that of another Spanish airline, in this case Volotea, which recently announced a new surcharge of up to \u20ac14 per person per flight to \u201cminimise the impact in a constantly evolving global environment\u201d due to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/War.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">war<\/a> in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>The measure, dubbed the \u201cFair <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Travel.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Travel<\/a> Promise\u201d and in force since 16 March, has drawn criticism from consumer associations. The OCU has called for \u2018transparency and clear justification\u2019 regarding fuel surcharges, whilst Asufin has branded Volotea\u2019s announcement as \u201cillegal\u201d and an \u2018abuse\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, other airlines such as Air France-KLM have stated that they do not rule out increasing long-haul ticket prices to cope with rising fuel costs.
