Eric Clapton<\/a> ended his concert in Madrid on May 7th early after being struck by an object from the crowd.<\/p>\n

Clapton is currently on his European tour<\/a>, which he brought to the Movistar Arena in the Spanish capital last night. <\/p>\n

However, in footage that has since circulated on social media, Clapton could be seen to be hit on the chest while walking across the stage by what appeared to be a vinyl record.<\/p>\n

The moment occurred in his set just after he performed \u2018Cocaine\u2019<\/a>, which is typically the point at which he leaves the stage, before returning shortly afterwards to deliver an encore. <\/p>\n

Yet, in Madrid, there was no encore, and Clapton did not return to the stage.<\/p>\n

According to the Spanish publication El Pa\u00eds<\/a>, the fan did not intend to cause harm to Clapton, and the vinyl was accompanied by a \u201cnote of affection\u201d. While they may have had the best of intentions, it did not have the desired effect.<\/p>\n

El Pa\u00eds also reports that Clapton \u201cbecame angry\u201d following the incident, hence why he chose not to return to the stage in Madrid.<\/p>\n

Clapton is yet to address the incident.<\/p>\n

The former Cream guitarist\u2019s tour is set to resume in Barcelona on May 10th at the Palau Saint Jordi, before the 81-year-old makes his way to Germany for shows next week in Mannheim, Cologne, and Munich.<\/p>\n

His lone UK date is set to take place on August 23rd at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, where his special guests will include Ronnie Wood<\/a>. Then, in September, Clapton will begin a short North American arena tour, ahead of headlining the Crossroads Music Festival in Austin, Texas.<\/p>\n
