\n\t\t\t\t\t\tLaw enforcement took a suspect into custody on a murder charge following a fatal crash response north of Belen. The Valencia County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found a man dead on Square Deal Road after 8 p.m. Saturday, May 9. He was found partially in the roadway and early evidence showed he may have been hit by a vehicle.The crash victim has been identified as Gerald Marquez Jr. Law enforcement believe Marquez owned another vehicle that was found nearby with the engine still running and its driver side door open.Investigators later found surveillance video nearby that captured an older recreational vehicle stopping on the road shortly before the death response. VCSO said the video showed Marquez approach the vehicle before it accelerated out of frame.Detectives identified and and investigators found the recreation vehicle in the nearby area, on Cuatro Vientos Road. Dejohni Orndorff was detained without incident. The vehicle was photographed and transported to an evidence lot for a pending search warrant.Interviews led to finding Orndorff and Marquez were arguing earlier on Saturday before they left a home in separate vehicles.The VCSO investigation led to Orndorff being charged and booked on a second-degree murder charge.
