Barcelona\u2019s Disposal emerged from the ashes of a previous project that never fully clicked, but the connection among the\u00a0members was already there. \u201cThe chemistry was there, so I approached Martin about starting something fresh,\u201d bassist Elias explains. Chakana brought in second guitarist Kirill, and vocalist Esteban\u2014who Elias had worked with before\u2014rounded things out. \u201cThat\u2019s how Disposal was born\u2014a group of like-minded people coming together to create something more aggressive and focused.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s everything to know about Disposal: the band sits at the intersection of beatdown and \u201990s brutal death metal, pulling from both with equal force. Their sound leans on the weight of bands like Repudilation, Entorturement, and Internal Bleeding, while channeling the HM-2 buzzsaw tone of Dismember and the groove-heavy stomp of modern death-infused hardcore like Xibalba, Discontent, and Spawn of Disgust. As Elias puts it, \u201cIt\u2019s essentially a mix of ignorance, filth, and groove.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nIN REVERENCE TO NOTHING by DISPOSAL\n<\/p>\n

That approach is front and center on their debut demo, In Reverence to Nothing. The release is entirely self-produced, with the band handling recording and production themselves alongside close friends. \u201cWe really wanted to keep that raw, self-managed energy for our first release,\u201d Elias says. The result is a demo that feels immediate and unfiltered, matching the band\u2019s overall ethos. Lyrically, the material pulls from internal struggles and personal experiences, while the title reflects a more nihilistic mindset rooted in beatdown\u2019s no-frills attitude.<\/p>\n

Disposal are also part of a thriving scene across the Iberian Peninsula. \u201cThe scene is very healthy right now with some killer proposals,\u201d Elias notes, pointing to bands like Terminal Punishment\u2014who recently released a split with Anhedonia\u2014and Faced Out as standouts worth checking out.<\/p>\n

The band has already started making their presence felt onstage. Their live debut came opening for Recount and No Face No Case, a high-pressure introduction that set the tone moving forward. \u201cIt was a baptism of fire,\u201d Elias says, \u201cbut the energy was incredible and it felt like the perfect way to introduce Disposal to the pit.\u201d<\/p>\n
