Atletico Madrid fans threw toilet roll before the first-leg against Arsenal at the Metropolitano<\/p>\n

UEFA have confirmed they have fined Atletico Madrid \u20ac150,000 (\u00a3130,000) for throwing toilet roll onto the pitch before their Champions League<\/a> semi-final first leg draw with Arsenal.<\/p>\n

Ahead of kick-off, supporters launched the toilet paper from the stands to create a scene and crank up the atmosphere inside the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.<\/p>\n

However, those actions have now landed Atleti a six-figure fine, according to a UEFA press release.<\/p>\n

It read, revealing a breach of UEFA regulations: “Atletico Madrid have been fined \u20ac15,000 for Throwing of objects, Art. 16(2)(b) DR in the match in Spain against Arsenal<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

Viktor Gyokeres<\/a> opened the scoring on the night from the penalty spot before Julian Alvarez also struck from 12-yards to level the scores before the second meeting in London.<\/p>\n

The Gunners then won the second leg 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium less than a week later when Bukayo Saka struck a first-half winner in N5.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the knockout stages, Arsenal were also punished by UEFA after their travelling supporters allegedly lit flares in Leverkusen before the 1-1 draw with Bayer 04.<\/p>\n

They were ordered to pay in the region of \u20ac2,250 (\u00a31,947) for the “lighting of fireworks.”<\/p>\n

In the quarter-finals, Sporting CP were also fined \u20ac2,750 (\u00a32,380) after their supporters threw objects from the stands.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s Champions League final opponents PSG have a number of injury problems to contend with ahead of their meeting with the Gunners in Hungary.<\/p>\n
