{"id":23700,"date":"2026-05-15T03:21:47","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T03:21:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/23700\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T03:21:47","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T03:21:47","slug":"flick-making-rotation-calls-by-himself-no-world-cup-agreement-with-barcelona-players","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/23700\/","title":{"rendered":"Flick making rotation calls by himself, no World Cup agreement with Barcelona players"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Barcelona\u2019s hopes of clinching multiple records and reaching the elusive 100-point mark for the season <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/barcelona-defeat-to-alaves-brought-several-streaks-and-records-to-an-end\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">came to an end<\/a> following their recent defeat to Alaves.<\/p>\n<p>A disappointing result against Alaves was bound to happen, considering the sheer number of changes Hansi Flick had made in the first team, leading many to believe that the German has a pact with players participating in the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Flick has no World Cup agreement<\/p>\n<p>However, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marca.com\/futbol\/barcelona\/2026\/05\/14\/hay-pacto-barca-mundialistas-hansi-flick-decide-dosificaciones.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">MARCA<\/a>, there is no agreement in place between Barcelona and their World Cup-bound players regarding playing time in the final matches of the season. <\/p>\n<p>Flick is making every rotation decision independently, based purely on how he assesses each player\u2019s physical condition and how they communicate their feelings to him.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"685\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/deportivo-alaves-v-fc-barcelona-laliga-ea-sports-2-1-1024x685.jpg\" alt=\"Hansi Flick, Barcelona manager\" class=\"wp-image-199610\"  \/>Flick won\u2019t restrict game-time because of the World Cup. The changes were significant by Flick\u2019s standards, but they were his call and his alone.<\/p>\n<p>The German coach is acutely aware of the World Cup\u2019s significance. (Photo by Alex Caparros\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>He does not want any of his players picking up injuries in the final three matches that could rob them of their World Cup dream, nor does he want them entering the tournament carrying unnecessary fatigue.<\/p>\n<p>Players like Pau Cubarsi, who has already accumulated 2,708 minutes, and Gerard Martin and Eric Garcia, who have each featured in 49 matches, are among those being carefully managed.<\/p>\n<p>That said, Flick will not tolerate complacency.
