The Independent has contacted the Ertzaintza for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The location, next to a large Basque flag overlooking the Salamanca promenade and Zuloaga square, is a popular viewing spot and tourist destination. The Paseo Nuevo is a popular trail for climbers aiming to scale the nearby mountain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This is not the first time someone has fallen to their death at the much-visited beauty spot. A 65-year-old woman died in similar circumstances at Mount Urgull in 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A number of Britons have also died in fatal falls in other parts of Spain in recent years.
