When they arrived, Adrian Cuevas, 32, was being medically assessed, and was then sent to University of New Mexico Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.Cuevas had been riding a bicycle north on El Cerro when he was hit from behind by a black 2014 Toyota Camry that fled the scene. Later that day, VCSO deputies were able to identify Joshua Lopez, Crystal Lopez, and a juvenile male as persons of interest who were taken to the Sheriff’s Office and interviewed. Police learned that a black SUV headed south swerved into the northbound lane, causing the juvenile male, who reportedly was driving the Camry, to veer out of the way. Cuevas, on the bicycle, was hit by the front passenger side of the Camry, which left the scene. Its driver did not notify police or call for an ambulance, the release said. Crystal Lopez and another woman, Rachel Silguero, met with the juvenile and returned to the scene, Silguero told Lopez and the juvenile to leave, then lied to deputies about her involvement. Lopez and the juvenile went to her home and put the Camry in the garage. It was later seized by deputies with a search warrant. Warrants were issued for the juvenile, Lopez, and Silguero, all of whom were arrested and booked on charges including injuring the bicyclist and leaving the scene, tampering with evidence, conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, resisting, evading, and obstructing, and false reporting.Adrian Cuevas remains hospitalized, still in critical but stable condition.

      VALENCIA COUNTY, N.M. —

Following an investigation of a hit-and-run that critically injured a bicyclist, Valencia County Sheriff’s deputies arrested three suspects, one who is in custody at the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center and two who are being held at the Valencia County Detention Center, a VCSO news release said.

Deputies were sent to El Cerro Loop Road on May 13 and Winchester Lane in response to a report of a hit-and-run.
