A health alert for Birmingham, the Black Country and wider West Midlands has been issued by a Government agency as a heatwave is set to hit the region and remain for days.<\/p>\n
The second city is set to bask in sunshine and spark days of warm weather for the Bank Holiday weekend and beyond.<\/p>\n
The Met Office has said it will be \u2018very warm and sunny over the Bank Holiday weekend\u2019 with temperatures set to hit 31 degrees Celsius on Monday (May 25) with the city and region hotter than Spain.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: UK heatwave will be ‘prolonged’ and break record dating back to 1922<\/a> <\/p>\n The weekend will start with \u2018fine an dry\u2019 weather on Friday (May 22) with a chance of \u2018overnight spots of rain\u2019 and the thermometer not set to fall below 13 degrees.<\/p>\n That warm sunny weather will continue on Saturday (May 23) again with \u2018dry and sunny\u2019 conditions and \u2018feeling very warm in the strong sunshine\u2019, again hitting 26 degrees.<\/p>\n But then temperatures are set to soar further hitting 28 degrees C on Sunday and peaking at 31 degrees on Monday, with sunshine throughout and hotter than Barcelona and Marbella in Spain and the Algarve in Portugal which are all only set to be 25 degrees C.<\/p>\n It will be even hotter than Barbados too – where 29 C is forecast but with thundery showers!<\/p>\n The overnight temperatures in Brum will be a sticky 17 degrees C on Sunday and Monday.<\/p>\n Get breaking news on BirminghamLive WhatsApp<\/a> <\/p>\n But those warm temperature have sparked a Yellow Alert from the UK Health Security Agency for the West Midlands.<\/p>\n It starts today (Friday, May 22) in place from 9am and is set to continue for six days until 5pm on Wednesday, May 27.<\/p>\n These will lead to impacts across health and social services with the UK HSA mentioning: \u201cIncreased use of healthcare services by vulnerable people.<\/p>\n \u201cGreater risk to life of vulnerable people and increased potential for indoor environments to become very warm.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more: Drenched, exhausted, and sobbing: Inside story of a perfect night with Villa<\/a> <\/p>\n Those warm temperatures will continue throughout the school half-term holiday.<\/p>\n The Met Office said: \u201cRemaining dry and settled throughout Sunday and early next week with plenty of sunshine.
