Pension spending marks a new high of 14,366 million in May, 6.1% more year-on-year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Social Security has allocated in this month of May a historic disbursement of 14,365.8 million euros to pay the ordinary payroll of contributory pensions, which represents an increase of 6.1% compared to the same period in 2025, as communicated this Tuesday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations.<\/p>\n<p>This payroll incorporates the revaluation of pensions approved by the Government for 2026. In general, the increase applied is 2.7%, in line with the average CPI recorded between December 2024 and November 2025.<\/p>\n<p>During May, Social Security has paid a total of 10,480,593 pensions (+1.5%) to 9.47 million beneficiaries. Of these, 6.7 million correspond to retirement pensions; 2.3 million are widowhood benefits; more than one million fall under permanent disability; 335,154 are orphan pensions and 46,794 are granted in favor of relatives.<\/p>\n<p>The average retirement pension registers an increase of 4.4%<\/p>\n<p>According to data from the Ministry, the average pension in the Social Security system stood in May at 1,370.7 euros per month, which implies an advance of 4.6% compared to the same month of the previous year.
