Photo by Enric Fontcuberta\/EPA<\/p>\n<p>May 26 (UPI) &#8212; Spanish midfielder Alexia Putellas will leave Barcelona after 14 years, the two-time Ballon d&#8217;Or Ferminin award winner announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old will make her final appearance for the Spanish Liga F soccer club against Real Sociedad on Wednesday in Barcelona. Putellas, who made her Barcelona senior team debut in 2012 is the club&#8217;s all-time leader in goals, with 233.\n<\/p>\n<p>Putellas, who also spent time with Espanyol and Levante, is widely regarded as one of the best women&#8217;s players of the 21st century.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DYz0IE7o_pI\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">no words to describe<\/a> what it has meant to live all this alongside my teammates,&#8221; Putellas said in a video posted to her Instagram account. &#8220;To those who paved the way, and those of us who came later to write this eternal legacy together.\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To those who are coming after us, you already know what I will always tell you: the pressure and this jersey are a privilege. The future of the team belongs to you and it will be your turn to make history at the best club in the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Putellas won 38 titles over her 14 seasons with the club. That haul includes 10 league crowns, 10 Queen&#8217;s Cups, six Spanish Super Cups and eight Catalonia Cups, in addition to the Champions League titles.\n<\/p>\n<p>Putellas logged 20 goals through 42 appearances in 2025-26. She helped Barcelona win a fourth Champions League crown in six years last weekend and was named Champions League Player of the Season for a second time.<\/p>\n<p>Putellas&#8217; 40 international goals are the second-most in the history of the Spanish women&#8217;s national team, for which she has a record 146 appearances.
