{"id":30845,"date":"2026-05-28T06:35:22","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T06:35:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/30845\/"},"modified":"2026-05-28T06:35:22","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T06:35:22","slug":"real-madrid-and-barca-dominate-world-club-ranking-of-social-media-followers-worldwide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/30845\/","title":{"rendered":"Real Madrid and Barca dominate world club ranking of social media followers worldwide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>May 27 \u2013 They may have missed out on the final stage of this season\u2019s Champions League, but one area where they remain unsurpassable is with their social media followings with Real Madrid\u00a0(488 million followers) and\u00a0Barcelona\u00a0(442 million), leading a world club ranking of the number of followers on the main social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and X).<\/p>\n<p>Premier League\u00a0Manchester United\u00a0complete the top three with 239 million follower, just under half that of Real Madrid, while\u00a0Paris Saint-Germain\u00a0rank 4th with 208 million followers.<\/p>\n<p>The report from the\u00a0CIES Football Observatory\u00a0highlights the Bundesliga\u2019s Bayern Munich\u00a0as the outside of the top 10 that recorded the strongest\u00a0growth\u00a0over the past year both in absolute (+16.1 million followers) and relative terms (+11%).<\/p>\n<p>Data shows clubs in the top 10 have a combined total of 2.36 billion followers, up 3.8% on last year, broken down as follows among the platforms selected: Instagram (31%), Facebook (31%), TikTok (17%), X (16%) and YouTube (5%).<\/p>\n<p>CIES report authors find point to the spread geographically of the top 100 clubs coming from countries\u00a0with every continent (bar Oceania) represented. The highest number of clubs by country are Spain\u00a0(21 teams, often with a large following on TikTok), England (16) and Brazil (11).<\/p>\n<p>Outside Europe, the top three clubs are Brazil\u2019s\u00a0Flamengo\u00a0(71.6 million), Saudi Arabia\u2019s\u00a0Al-Nassr\u00a0FC (66.0 million) and Egypt\u2019s\u00a0Al-Ahly SC\u00a0(60.1 million).<\/p>\n<p>Al Nassr are notable for the boost of having the superstar social following of Ronaldo and are ranked 16th.
