Los Angeles County officials broke ground Friday on a new fire station in Valencia that is expected to improve emergency response capabilities in the growing Santa Clarita Valley.<\/p>\n
Los Angeles County Fire Department Deputy Chief Jon O\u2019Brien joined Supervisor Kathryn Barger at Friday\u2019s ceremony marking the start of construction on Fire Station 46 at 26720 Bombero Lane, near the intersection of Bombero Lane and Westridge Parkway.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe groundbreaking of Fire Station 46 represents a promise to our community that public safety remains a top priority,\u201d Barger said in a statement. \u201cIn the face of growing wildfire threats and emergencies across our region, this state-of-the-art station will help protect lives, strengthen emergency response, and give residents greater peace of mind.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the station will improve public safety and emergency response times throughout the community.<\/p>\n
The 13,341-square-foot station will be designed to meet net-zero energy goals and include two apparatus bays for an engine and a paramedic squad, a separate barn for three reserve units and dormitory space for up to 10 personnel, officials said.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday\u2019s groundbreaking for Fire Station 46 marks an exciting new chapter in our Department\u2019s service to Valencia,\u201d O\u2019Brien said. \u201cAs the permanent home of Engine and Paramedic Squad 46, this new fire station will ensure we continue delivering the exemplary care the Santa Clarita Valley relies on.\u201d<\/p>\n
