{"id":3211,"date":"2026-04-13T09:16:05","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T09:16:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/3211\/"},"modified":"2026-04-13T09:16:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T09:16:05","slug":"global-supply-chain-sustainability-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/3211\/","title":{"rendered":"Global Supply Chain Sustainability Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In an era where corporate responsibility and sustainability are at the forefront of business operations, Telef\u00f3nica underlines\u00a0the Group\u2019s unwavering commitment to creating sustainable production environments in which respect for and promotion of Human Rights is fostered throughout its supply chain\u00a0in the\u00a0fourth\u00a0edition of its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.telefonica.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/08\/PolicySustainabilitySupplyChain.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" title=\"Open link in new tab\" class=\"link-ext\">`Global Supply Chain Sustainability Policy\u2019<\/a>.\u00a0To this end, it has the Supplier Code of Conduct, through which it\u00a0seeks\u00a0to ensure that all links in the chain\u00a0operate\u00a0with the utmost respect for legal, ethical, social, environmental and privacy principles.\u00a0The \u2018Global\u00a0Supply Chain Sustainability Policy\u2019 is applicable across all companies within the Telef\u00f3nica Group.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, this policy was updated to align with the new European regulatory frameworks on sustainability,\u00a0such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).\u00a0This update also responds to the Group\u2019s commitment to the continuous improvement of its internal regulatory framework and to the expectations of investors,\u00a0analysts\u00a0and stakeholders.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Commitments to the supply chain <\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0new version\u00a0of Telef\u00f3nica\u2019\u00a0s\u00a0Supply Chain Sustainability Policy\u00a0replaces the\u00a0previous\u00a0ones. While\u00a0maintaining\u00a0continuity with\u00a0previous\u00a0editions, the wording and structure have been adapted to reflect the results of the double materiality analysis \u2013 which includes the Impact, Risk and Opportunity Assessment (IRO) \u2013 and ensure stronger management, aligned with the standards of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).<\/p>\n<p>Telef\u00f3nica is deeply committed to upholding the highest standards of rigour, objectivity and transparency in its interactions with suppliers. These key principles include:<\/p>\n<p> Avoid any lack of integrity, conflict of interest, or undue advantage.\u00a0Promote equal opportunities in\u00a0purchasing\u00a0processes.\u00a0Fulfill\u00a0the commitments\u00a0acquired\u00a0with suppliers.\u00a0Identify\u00a0adverse impacts on the supply chain.\u00a0Implement a supplier evaluation system based on sustainability risks.\u00a0Integrate ESG (environmental, social and governance) criteria into supplier procurement processes.\u00a0Facilitate access to clear information on sustainability requirements and monitoring mechanisms.\u00a0Collaborate with suppliers in the implementation of effective redress mechanisms.\u00a0Provide training and technical support to suppliers, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to\u00a0facilitate\u00a0the implementation of ethical and sustainable practices and compliance with the requirements set out in this Policy.\u00a0Cooperate at the sectoral level to drive the best available management practices.\u00a0Encourage the active participation of relevant stakeholders in the identification, assessment and monitoring of impacts and risks in the supply chain.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p class=\"text--intro has-white-color has-text-color has-background has-medium-font-size\" style=\"background-color:#0066ff\">Telef\u00f3nica\u2019s dedication to these principles underscores its commitment to supply chain sustainability, ensuring that every step in the supply chain aligns with the company\u2019s values and standards.<\/p>\n<p>Supplier\u00a0Code\u00a0of\u00a0Conduct,\u00a0Minimum\u00a0Sustainability\u00a0Requirements\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>As a new feature, the\u00a0minimum\u00a0requirements have been\u00a0consolidated\u00a0and simplified in a new annex document: the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.telefonica.com\/es\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/09\/Codigo-de-Conducta-de-Proveedores.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" title=\"Open link in new tab\" class=\"link-ext\">Supplier Code of Conduct<\/a>. This code, which forms part of the Policy, is integrated into the GEP purchasing system and must be accepted by suppliers upon registration, ensuring their knowledge and compliance from the outset of the business relationship.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These\u00a0minimum\u00a0requirements\u00a0are as\u00a0follows:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Legal Compliance and Human Rights:\u00a0Suppliers\u00a0must\u00a0always\u00a0comply\u00a0with\u00a0the applicable regulations, whether international,\u00a0national\u00a0or local. It must guarantee respect for Human Rights in its own operations,\u00a0subsidiaries\u00a0and supply chains.Ethical criteria and integrity:\u00a0\u202fTelef\u00f3nica expects its suppliers to combat corruption in all its forms, including bribery and money laundering. Suppliers must avoid situations of conflict of interest and engaging in anti-competitive behaviour.\u00a0Social Criteria:\u00a0Suppliers must\u00a0comply with\u00a0aspects relating to the employment relationship, working hours, wages and freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining. Suppliers shall also ensure that there is no child labour or forced labour in their activity and in their own supply chain.\u00a0Telef\u00f3nica\u2019s Supplier Code of Conduct\u00a0also stresses the importance of equal treatment and opportunities for all. \u202fSimilarly, suppliers shall provide their employees with a safe and healthy working environment,\u00a0commensurate\u00a0with the specific hazards\/risks of each activity.\u00a0Environmental Criteria:\u202fSuppliers must adhere to all environmental laws, especially those concerning waste, energy, emissions, and resource consumption. They should consider the entire life cycle of their products and services, from raw material extraction to waste management. Moreover, suppliers should have an environmental policy in place and\u00a0operate\u00a0an environmental management system. Preferably aligned with ISO 14001 or similar standards. Furthermore, actions to mitigate climate change, promote energy efficiency, and support renewable energy initiatives are also emphasised.\u00a0Criteria for Privacy, Confidentiality, and Freedom of Speech:\u202fSuppliers must process personal data\u00a0in accordance with\u00a0applicable personal data protection legislation and may not, under any circumstances, use it for their own purposes. They must implement\u00a0appropriate cybersecurity\u00a0measures and ensure that technologies such as artificial intelligence are used in an ethical and responsible manner.
