Former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has reportedly been offered to Barcelona, with the Catalan side hoping to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid this summer\"Former<\/p>\n

Former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has been offered to Barcelona this summer, according to reports in Spain. The Catalan side has already snapped up Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.<\/p>\n

According to Mundo Deportivo<\/a>, Barcelona<\/a> and Nunez’s Al Hilal are in talks to turn Joao Cancelo’s loan into a permanent transfer. In those negotiations, it is suggested that the Saudi Pro League<\/a> side has brought up Nunez as someone who might be of interest too.<\/p>\n

Looking to bolster its forward line and holding an interest in Julian Alvarez, Barcelona is on the hunt for more goals with Robert Lewandowski leaving. Atletico Madrid<\/a> made public its desire to keep Alvarez last week with a series of social media posts mocking Barcelona’s pursuit of its star man.<\/p>\n

Liverpool sold Nunez to Al Hilal last summer for a fee that might have reached $75 million (\u00a356 million) including add-ons. After Karim Benzema moved to the same club<\/a>, though, he was soon left behind.<\/p>\n

In the second half of the season, Nunez was left out of the Al Hilal squad. Ahead of the summer, it has already been agreed that he will be allowed to depart<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite his limited game time, Nunez will travel to the World Cup with his country this summer, which could complicate any transfer. He did feature for Uruguay in the March international break, having played against England and Algeria<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nunez is claimed to have already received offers ahead of the summer, with a return to the Premier League touted as one of his options.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019d be lying if I said I didn\u2019t miss them [the people of Liverpool],” Nunez said in March. “The truth is, they made me feel very welcome, and my family too.<\/p>\n

“During some difficult times I went through personally, the people always gave me that affection, that support, and that was very important to me, and obviously I miss Liverpool.”<\/p>\n

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026\/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club’s 1989\/90 title-winning campaign.<\/p>\n

Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike<\/a> both signed last summer, meaning there was no place for Nunez at Anfield anymore. However, both have had issues in their time on Merseyside so far.<\/p>\n

Isak arrived lacking match fitness and then broke his leg, while Ekitike is set to be sidelined for some time with an Achilles injury.<\/p>\n

Liverpool.com says: Nunez has more quality than the move to Saudi Arabia would suggest. While his wage demands would have to come down, there should be a place for him in Europe.<\/p>\n

In years gone by, he would almost certainly have ended up in Turkiye at some point.
