The episode has reportedly resulted in one passenger being arrested.

Reports today indicate that failure to comply with the rules could lead to a flight being diverted back to its departure airport for safety considerations. On Saturday afternoon, an aircraft departed Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey bound for Palma de Mallorca in Spain.

However, while crossing the Atlantic some time later, it was compelled to return to its point of departure due to a security concern, according to reports. For British travellers, the episode serves as a reminder of how vital it is to observe airline regulations. It will also prompt many to review these rules to ensure they’re following the guidelines properly.

easyJet rules on Bluetooth use

According to easyJet’s website, passengers are permitted to use portable electronic devices on board for purposes including gaming, reading e-books, viewing films and enjoying their preferred music. The airline confirms that most devices can be used throughout all stages (take-off, flight and landing) of the journey, reports the Mirror.

The website continues: “All devices must be in ‘flight safe’ mode for taxi, take-off, inflight and landing and held securely in your hand or in your pocket. However, this doesn’t apply during taxi, take-off and landing – when they must be securely stored in the overhead locker. There may be occasions when the pilot or cabin crew request that all electronic devices be turned off, and passengers should comply with these instructions, the airline states.

In Saturday’s incident in America, according to passengers who spoke to the website AirLive, crew members had instructed passengers to immediately disconnect all Bluetooth devices.
