Fati has agreed to a longer-term contract with Monaco, accepting a salary adjustment to fit within the club’s budget.

The sticking point, however, is the sell-on clause. Barcelona believe they sold Fati for below his true market value, given his significant improvement this season in Ligue 1 where he finished as one of the league’s top scorers.

On that basis, the club are demanding a substantial percentage of any future sale. Monaco, on the other hand, are only willing to offer 10%, arguing that they have already invested significantly in the player’s salary and will be paying a transfer fee on top.

Talks have resumed following the agreement with the player, and both clubs are hopeful of reaching a final resolution by the end of this week or early next week.

Only a matter of time before Fati joins AS Monaco. (Photo by Angel Martinez/Getty Images)

Why Barcelona need this done quickly

Barcelona want to finalise the Fati sale quickly. That is because closing the sale before June 30th would be hugely beneficial in terms of the club’s return to the 1:1 salary cap rule.

Between the €11 million transfer fee and the wage savings from removing Fati’s salary from the books, Barcelona stand to generate close to €20 million.

This fee could go a long way in aiding Barcelona as they look to sign some more big players in the summer.

Just days after signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United in a big-money move, Barcelona are set to make…

[5
1893,2303,92,222,223
post-33735","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-barcelona","tag-ansu-fati","tag-as-monaco","tag-barcelona","tag-barcelona-news","tag-fc-barcelona
["GET
