{"id":34705,"date":"2026-06-04T14:40:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T14:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/34705\/"},"modified":"2026-06-04T14:40:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T14:40:13","slug":"report-the-reason-behind-barcelona-forwards-e11-million-departure-being-delayed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/34705\/","title":{"rendered":"Report &#8211; The reason behind Barcelona forward&#8217;s \u20ac11 million departure being delayed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FC Barcelona have still not officially confirmed Ansu Fati\u2019s permanent departure to AS Monaco following a moderately successful loan spell. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although it was widely reported that Monaco would activate their \u20ac11 million purchase option and that <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/ligue-1-club-reach-agreement-in-principle-to-retain-barcelona-forward-in-e11m-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">an agreement with the forward had already been reached<\/a>, the deal has yet to be finalised.<\/p>\n<p>Why the delay?<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundodeportivo.com\/futbol\/fc-barcelona\/20260604\/1004191268\/barca-no-quiere-perder-control-sobre-ansu.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Mundo Deportivo<\/a>, the delay is due to Barcelona\u2019s desire to retain some control over Ansu\u2019s future, as they still view him as a valuable long-term asset.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the arrival of Anthony Gordon, Ansu accepted that his future at Barcelona was effectively over. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1780584010_191_afc-ajax-v-brighton-and-hove-albion-group-b-uefa-europa-league-2023-24-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Ansu Fati, AS Monaco player\" class=\"wp-image-201244\"  \/>No way back for Ansu. (Photo by Dean Mouhtaropoulos\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hansi Flick does not see him as part of his plans, despite the player remaining under contract until 2028, and the club encouraged him to accept Monaco\u2019s proposal after spending the past season there on loan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Monaco have until 30 June to trigger the purchase clause. However, negotiations have involved more than simply agreeing terms on Ansu\u2019s sizeable salary. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barcelona are reluctant to completely lose control of the La Masia graduate and do not want him sold for a relatively modest fee only for him to be transferred again later, potentially to one of their direct rivals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For that reason, club executives are pushing to include either a buyback clause or a percentage of any future sale. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/real-madrid-cf-v-as-monaco-uefa-champions-league-2025-26-league-phase-md7-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Ansu Fati, Barcelona player\" class=\"wp-image-198078\"  \/>Barcelona want to retain some control over Ansu\u2019s future. (Photo by Angel Martinez\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The objective is to maintain some influence over Ansu\u2019s career path and avoid criticism if he eventually fulfils the enormous potential that once made him one of football\u2019s brightest young talents.<\/p>\n<p>There may be another motive<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report further states that the delay may also reflect another strategy: waiting to see whether a higher offer arrives from elsewhere. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After all, <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/sevilla-emerge-as-an-option-for-barcelona-loanee-following-12-goal-season-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Ansu has attracted interest from Sevilla in recent days<\/a>.
