\t\t\t\t\tThe man who was found dead in his vehicle near the Valencia Town Center Mall Wednesday morning has been identified.<\/p>\n

Jeffrey Koons, 47, a transient, was the person found near the Valencia Town Center Mall, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, first responders received reports of an SUV with a broken window and a firearm on the floor next to the car in the 24200 block of Valencia Boulevard near the Valencia Mall, said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff\u2019s Station at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n

Firefighters also responded to the scene, and the person later identified as Koons, who was inside the vehicle, was pronounced dead on arrival, said Justin Yang, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department homicide detectives responded to the scene and determined that Koons\u2019 manner of death was suicide, according to Deputy Fantom with the LASD Sheriff\u2019s Information Bureau.<\/p>\n
